In a current pop climate that is chock full of sampled music & copycat artists, North Carolina native David Boyles breathes life into the music universe with his organic acoustic funk, spinning stories that draw the listener in with an original flare.
Boyles is a multi-faceted artist--he began his musical career singing in church choir. He played drums in high school, and went on to study music at Western Carolina University, earning a B.F.A. in Music with a concentration in jazz bass performance, and a minor in jazz guitar.
"Bedroom Demos", which was written, performed, and recorded entirely by David in his bedroom on his 2-track M-BoX, takes its listeners on a never-ending journey through thought-provoking themes and genre-breaking sounds. Recent placements of David's music include "Good Thing" on NBC's "Scrubs", as well as penning the title theme for MTV's "Becomimg".
Like some of the contemporaries before him that he lists as influences (Prince, G-Love, D'Angelo, Jamiroquai, Thicke), David Boyles has a style that cannot be instantly categorized. A sonic hybrid of Rock, Funk, R&B, and Soul all mesh together to create an atmosphere so vital that people keep coming back for more. David has consistently been selling cd's and creating a buzz through his performances across the country, opening for acts such as The North Mississippi All-Stars, The Jon Butler Trio, Hollywood Records artist Josh Kelley and Michael McDonald. David's perserverance has led to his signing with Columbia Music Entertainment, leading to the release of the album "Thank You", which is a showcase of the sounds and stylings that he has developed and made his own. Basically using the same recording setup as "Bedroom Demos", David gives us the intimate closeness and honesty that his recordings reveal. David has also shared the stage with Coolio, Bryan McNight, Al Jarreau, Cameo, Usher, Tommy Davidson, and Jamie Foxx.
